Denver International Airport's sixth and newest runway (16R/34L) is the largest commercial precision-instrument runway in North America. SURVCON provided precision surveying for this runway and its associated taxiways. The survey tasks included establishing a precise vertical network, survey of existing horizontal control using a Global Positioning System, and a 3-D High Definition Laser Scanning survey of the runway and associated taxiways totaling over 40,000 feet of concrete surface. The survey services were completed within 8 days and did not force the closure of the runway during daylight operations.
