St. Mary Diversion and Conveyance Facilities Rehabilitation

Montana

The overall St. Mary Diversion and Conveyance Facilities is a 100-year-old, 27-mile-long, diversion system comprised of varying components, each equally important and critical to the diversion and supply of water to the Milk River Basin.

The purpose of this project is to provide engineering services for review, preliminary design, final design and construction support for the rehabilitation and replacement of the St. Mary diversion and conveyance facilities. The diverted water serves as the sole or supplemental source for several municipal water systems, as well as provides irrigation for agriculture. Recreational users and fish and wildlife populations will also benefit from the project.

TCB is specifically responsible for 8 miles of canal section downstream of Hall’s Coulee Siphon and five reinforced concrete, plunge-pool type drop structures originally designed to convey 800 cfs. Each drop is approximately 40 feet.
