TCB's geotechnical engineers provided complete geotechnical services, from siting studies to design to resident engineering during construction. Siting studies included geologic mapping, earthquake studies, test borings, and test pits. The studies revealed the presence of a major fault in the dam foundation that required relocating the dam.
TCB evaluated alternative designs for the dam. The most cost-effective design was an innovative concrete face rockfill dam that used excess material from the mine to construct the dam. TCB's geotechnical engineers analyzed the stability and settlement of the selected alternative, prepared preliminary and final designs for the dam, excavations, grout curtain, and instrumentation, and provided support during bidding. |
