Sustainable Design Services
As environmental and quality of life concerns become greater, it is becoming imperative to adopt a more sustainable approach to development. TCB AECOM has assembled a multidisciplinary team of project managers, engineers, architects, scientists, planners, and landscape architects, many of whom are LEED Accredited ProfessionalsTM, to assist you in reducing the impacts of development on our communities and the natural environment. We provide a full suite of sustainable design services, including LEED certification and low impact development, to assist in the ‘greening’ of our buildings, neighborhoods, and cities.
We are committed to incorporating sustainable design principles in all projects, ranging from buildings to detention basins to water treatment plants and highways. We meet that commitment by integrating energy efficiency, resource conservation, sustainable site selection, preservation of natural habitat and landscape, low impact site design and planning, impact mitigation, materials reuse and recycling, and noise and pollution control into the project approach where possible.
We promote using sustainable design practices to reduce construction and operational costs of facilities and infrastructure in order to make green design beneficial for both the environment and your bottom line.
LEED Design and Certification
As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, the developer of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, we are committed to providing solutions that assist you in designing, constructing, and operating energy efficient, LEED certified facilities. We also provide support for green neighborhood development through the LEED for Neighborhood Development pilot program.
Low Impact Development
Low Impact Development (LID) provides ways to incorporate economic and environmental considerations into the development process. The LID approach to land development uses various land planning, design practices, and technologies to conserve and protect natural resources while reducing infrastructure costs.
The LID approach to stormwater management is focused on managing runoff at the source with low-cost landscape features designed to promote infiltration and increase overland storage. Examples of these features are rain gardens, bioswales, vegetated filter strips, bioretention facilities, pervious paving, and green roofs. They reduce peak runoff rate and total runoff volume, remove sediment and other stormwater contaminants, and provide the opportunity for stormwater reuse. LID can simply and affordably mitigate the impact of development, minimize the need for traditional storm sewer infrastructure, and significantly improve stormwater quality.
Whether for new development, redevelopment, or revitalization of existing sites, we can assist developers and municipalities in meeting their needs through cost-effective and aesthetically-pleasing LID best management practices.
